Hear our Cries

The past two days have been filled with sadness and confusion. They have been filled with fear and angst. They have been filled with hatred.

This morning, I woke up feeling heavy. I had planned to go to the gym, but everything about me felt weary. My heart was breaking from the inside out. I had an appointment this morning with a sweet {African American}woman to look over her disconnect for her power bill. She has been going through hard times and needs major assistance. Working in community care, I have appointments like this often. But, this one was different. As I sat with her discussing our next steps in helping her, she broke down in tears. I asked her what was wrong and she said, “Ashley, this world is so scary and I just need someone to talk to about it.” As we sat there crying together over the lives lost, we both shared the same feelings of love towards all races. We both respect law enforcement. She has white friends. I have black friends.

This morning I cried with a stranger, because Satan is winning over this world.

Before there was racism, sexism, favoritism, and persecution- there was hatred. For people to rid their minds of these things, they must first rid their hearts of hatred.

Once you fix the root, your tree will blossom

…and the world will know love.

God, we sing to you. Hear our cries.
